This paper investigates a potential factor for the rise in inequality that is yet fairly unexplored, namely immigration. As inequality has increased in Sweden, so has also immigration. Additionally, the Population Register was used to retrieve information on the country of origin and year of arrival in Sweden. The study population consists of 1 771 821 women who gave birth in Sweden, of which 315 992 were immigrants and 1 455 829 were Swedish-born.
